I'm in a Witness Protection Program... protecting me from Christian Witnesses
04.19.04 (4:01 am)

~ ponders~ just because I am not a Christian, doesn’t make me judgmental. Actually – if anything – it makes me indiscriminate. See, as a Christian, I had the burning desire to spread the word and tell others about Christ. For a Christian, that’s actually a very bad thing to do, when you think about it. First of all, you have to make a judgment. That judgment is, that the person you are about to witness to, does not have Christ in their life. So, let’s say, you found a guy like me, obviously impartial to Christianity be it due to personal experience or lack thereof, and you have decided to witness to me. What if I already have a fair size idea about Christ, and now you come along, witness to me, and destroy that little bit of Christian love that was already in me? What if by your witness, you lead me away from Christ, rather than to him? Wouldn’t that be worse, than to not witness at all?
Now, you will say, but Christ tells us to go and preach the gospel, and witness to others, and… and… and… I agree. That’s what Christ told you to do. There is only one way you can do this right, though: If you are led by the Holy Spirit. Don’t even try to talk to anyone about Christ if you are not filled by the Holy Spirit. Especially not to people like me, because I am likely to give you answers that destroy will your faith, or at the least make you doubt the things you’ve been taught about Christ.

And while this may sound harsh, it doesn’t mean that I don’t want you here. It doesn’t mean that you can’t have your say, or tell me your thoughts. You never know, I might actually listen closer than you expect.

I understand exactly what you are saying. This is why Christians are very successfully in spreading their faith by their action. Unfortunately fundamentalists feel the need to get in your face and destroy the image of Christianity.

as a youth minister i tell the kids in my group daily to witness in their schools. This does not mean to thump them over the head with a bible and make then decide right then and there to commit to Christ. I teach them to just live a Godly life and let that be the witness, let their love and kindness toward the pre-Christians be the greatest witness, and i teach them to always be ready to answer questions, take persecution, and pray for those who persecute them.

Which saint was it that said spread the Gospel every chance you get, if you have to use words. Meaning your actions should be your spreading the word, not rhetoric.

It seems really clear that even if we separate the fundamentalists, and only consider the rest of "christians", there are those that worship the death and shove it down your throat, and those that tryto figure out what he was teaching and live it. This latter group is often completely forgotten and often not considered Christian at all.

see, that's exactly what I'm talking about. Listen to yourself. Persecution? You are in the states, right? Provided that you are a normal American citizen, exercising your religious right, there should be no persecution. Apart from people possibly taking the piss out on you... I wonder if you realise what persecution really means.

~ ponders ~ "Real" Christians in the Scriptural sense of the word, are humble, they don't show themselves, they put Christ forward. Thank you for your comment, you are 100% right.
